UTS's Purpose For Running
The Collegiate Series

The UTS's Bar Olympics
Their Group System

At UTS's Bar Olympic tournaments they use a group system to start each tournament.  This means that you will play within a group of teams in a set spot in the bracket to start with.
So your group could be 4 or 8 teams in your group.  Your group will play thru the 1st two round of a set event.  Then move on to the next game.
So each team will play their first match.  Winners go on to their winners match, loser's will play their loser's bracket match.  So after the 8 teams have played their two matches.  2 teams will still be in the winner's bracket, 4 teams will be in the loser's bracket and 2 teams will be eliminated from this event.
Then after the group finishes this event they will rotate and play a different type game.  The group will rotate thru all the games of the Bar Olympics.  After that we will be calling matches from all the brackets and keeping the teams playing.
What this system does is eliminates conflict to start with in the first two rounds and  keeps things running smoothly early.  If you've seen brackets before, half the tournament matches are played in the first 2 rounds.  Plus this keeps everybody playing early and plus everybody will get a break for a match, to relax.
Now the complaint is we have to play the same team in every event.  But what we will do is draw up the first event's bracket.  Then we will take the group and rotate the teams so you won't play the same in the first round, in the other events.
We will go thru this with the player's Friday night so some of them will understand it for Saturday.  I encourage the players to come out on Friday and ask their questions.  Because if we can make it easier for you to understand before you come on Saturday.  It will make it a more enjoyable tournament to play in

What's Up with
Friday Night ??

If you notice on UTS's Tournament Board and their Flyers, they list the Bar Olympics as a 2 Day event.  We use Friday as a new player night.
With UTS running these tournaments in lots of new areas,  the players have to get used to the way we run them.  So for this matter, we take Friday and come in early to answer your questions and show you how the tournament will run on Saturday.
So we will be there to answer your questions and go thru the system and the rules.  We will also for the players that want some practice.  On Friday nights we will also be running some small DYP's.  At these we will be using the same rules that will be used on Saturday.
So the question is "Do I have to come on Friday night ?"  No.  You don't have to be there till Saturday Morning to register or Check in.
But if you have questions, I encourage you to come out Friday Night and have some fun and meet the staff.  I hope people will take advantage of this.  This will help make things run a lot smoother on Saturday, If more teams know how every thing runs.

When are you Booking
More Bar Olympics ???

Some of you are probably asking When is UTS going to have more of these?  Well we haven't got anymore booked right now.  But I have talked to a couple place.
First off the season for these is late Fall till spring.  So Basically while everybody is cooped up with crappy weather.  Plus I want to get the info out to you early enough so you can make plans on going and having some fun !!!!  So I will probably start work on next Season fairly soon.
So keep an eye on this section also besides the area you like best.  We might be running one of these in your area and I think you'll regret missing these fun events.
